PARTNERSHIP
Partnership is an integral part of our organization. All of our sites are in multi-service settings so that we can collaborate with neighborhood representatives and other non profits and refer our clients to one another's programs in order to best meet their individual needs and serve holistically. We are very grateful to our many current community partners, including local churches, various community centers, shelters, non-profit and government agencies, along with a host of private attorneys. Together, these partners and volunteers allow us to provide quality and holistic service and distinguish us from other Indianapolis providers of pro bono legal services.
* If you are interested in partnering with us, please contact our office at (317) 429-4131 or e-mail: contactus@nclegalclinic.org.
DONATE
As a 501(c)(3) organization, donations made to the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic are tax deductible. After donating, a receipt will be mailed to confirm the donation. For more information about donating, please call (317) 429-4131.
Our clinic served 25% more clients in 2007. In order for us to meet this increasing demand, we rely on gifts from individuals and corporations. Thank you in advance for your interest in NCLC.
VOLUNTEER
We rely on volunteers to assist us in providing high quality legal assistance to our low income neighbors. Without these volunteers, we could not effectively serve the growing number of families who enter our doors. In order to maximize our service to the low income Indianapolis community, we rely on staff attorneys and more than 100 volunteer attorneys and many non attorney volunteers to assist us each year.
Attorney Volunteers:
- Take a pro bono case in the subject area of your choice;
- Mentor other attorneys taking pro bono cases in your area of expertise;
- Assist with intake by advising clients during an intake session;
- Present at a Preventive Law Education Workshop in your area of legal expertise.
Non-Attorney Volunteers:
- Assist with foreign language interpretation and translation (we need help with many different languages);
- Perform reception, filing or other office work;
- Assist with marketing, desktop publishing, etc.
If you would like more information, or would like to volunteer, please email us at contactus@nclegalclinic.org or call (317) 429-4131.
CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION (CLE)
Attorneys - Need CLE credits? We partner closely with Heartland Pro Bono Counsel, the Indianapolis Bar Association, and the United States Bankruptcy Trustee's Office to provide free or low cost CLE workshops in the areas of Immigration, Family Law, and Bankruptcy or Foreclosure Prevention. Contact our office at (317) 429-4131 for additional information regarding dates, locations, and registration.
LEGAL INTERNSHIP
The Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic works with many universities to provide legal internships to students currently enrolled in law school or students interested in pursuing a legal career.
* If you are interested in a legal internship or summer internship for class or pro bono credit, please submit your resume to contactus@nclegalclinic.org or call (317) 429-4131.
PRAYER MINISTRY
Many clients who come to our intake sessions are facing terrible loss or significant crises in their lives. Some seek prayer about their lives, legal issues and faith. NCLC has a group of volunteers who come to our intake sessions to pray with our clients and pray for the clinic. Our prayer volunteers are passionate about this opportunity and are a vital part of our ministry. We are in need of more prayer volunteers given our multiple intake sites and the volume of clients we serve. These prayer partners help us to fulfill our mission to love our clients and serve “as a way of demonstrating Christ's love.”
* If you are interested in being a prayer volunteer, please contact Dan Fuller: (317) 429-4131.
