“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others,
as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” -- 1 Peter 4:10
In case you missed it, this April, we highlighted our amazing team of volunteers, sharing stories of their most meaningful client interactions, exploring their reasons for giving back, and learning how volunteering nourishes them in turn. We kicked off the month with a special message from Volunteer Coordinator Kathleen Bloxsome.
On the blog, we introduced you to a number of our volunteers, including our Volunteer Prayer Team, Volunteer Attorney Phil Zimmerly, Spanish Team Lead Volunteer Katie Bailey, and Volunteer Attorney Fatima Skimin. On Instagram, we highlighted legal interns Charlie Richert and Daniel Frohman, Spanish-speaking volunteer Maria Roberts, and Ft. Wayne volunteer Barbara Molargik-Fitch.
In addition to all of our volunteer appreciation events, we shared several powerful client stories on social media. We celebrated the naturalization oath ceremony of Victim Justice Program client Erany. We also met housing client Marlene and estate-planning client Brenda.
In honor of the Easter holiday, we held a staff-wide Easter egg hunt and shared Romans 6:9 on Instagram:
We have several exciting upcoming events, including a Trivia Night on May 2, co-hosted by Outreach, Inc. and sponsored by Barnes & Thornburg. Tickets are only $15 in advance and $25 at the door. They include an appetizer spread and complimentary Sun King beer, wine, and soda. You can register for tickets here.
On May 30 at The Clyde in Ft. Wayne, musical collective The Brilliance will hold a benefit concert presented by Fort Wayne Rising to support the work of the Legal Clinic. In a world where hate is the language of the day, The Brilliance is creating music which bears witness to the forgotten and sacred task of mending the divides. To purchase tickets or to learn more about this exciting event, please visit our website.
Check back this May as we highlight Project GRACE and our Expungement Help Desk, unique client stories, national media coverage of the work being done by our staff, and the importance of the Second Chance Law for the flourishing of our communities.
And, as ever, thank you for your continued support!
