Description: The legal intern will assist with bankruptcy cases, debtor/creditor issues, guardianship, expungement/sealing of criminal records, driver’s license issues, and more. Duties include legal research and writing, document review, and assisting with client intake. The intern will be supervised by Matt Gaudin, Staff Attorney for the CJP team.
The goals of this program are to develop an intern’s legal skills, serve as an introduction to the Consumer Justice Program, and provide a deeper understanding of Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic’s prophetic call to “Seek justice, defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow” (Isaiah 1:17).
Qualifications: Law students (1L, 2L or 3L) able to learn quickly, work independently, and be comfortable with client interaction. Prior experience or coursework in bankruptcy is preferred but not required.
