Grievance Policy

Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic receives a substantial number of requests for legal services and, due to limited resources, must decline some applicants. All grievances submitted to Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic will be reviewed; however, a grievance will only be formally investigated if it alleges discrimination on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, gender, religion, age, orientation, national origin, disability, or veteran status.

For grievances pertaining to other matters, a grievance form must be completed and submitted by email, fax, or mail. Upon receipt, the Director of Legal Operations will review the grievance, conduct an investigation, and make every effort to contact the complainant within four (4) weeks. If the attorney involved was a volunteer attorney affiliated with Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic, the complainant must include the attorney’s name on the form.

If the grievance involves a tax matter handled by the Clinic, please note that it is the complainant’s right to file a complaint directly with the Civil Rights Division of the Internal Revenue Service.
