Save the Date: 5/28/15 & 6/4/15 Bankruptcy CLE* Part 1 & 2

Consider this scenario: A young married woman with two children falls suddenly and seriously ill. Her two-income family is forced to stretch their finances when she is no longer able to work. The once-manageable bills—monthly mortgage, utility, and car payments—coupled with all of their living expenses are now impossible. The woman and her husband are exhausted, stressed, and scared. And all of this is before the astronomical medical bills begin to arrive in the mail. This sequence of events is familiar to the Legal Clinic. Every day our attorneys meet with clients who tell a similar story, often just barely able to keep it together. In fact, these cases are so regular that sometimes our attorneys are simply unable to take on any more.

This is where you come in.

On May 28, 2015 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM (lunch will be provided), bankruptcy attorney Matthew Gaudin will host Part 1 of a training for attorneys with little or no bankruptcy experience in the specifics of helping someone to file. Part 2 of the training will take place the following Thursday, June 4, 2015 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. According to Matt, this training offers a unique opportunity for attorneys who want to expand their practice area. But this is not the only perk. Those who go on to take a volunteer case on behalf of the Legal Clinic, serving some of those we may otherwise be unable to assist, will also have the support of the Clinic. Matt says, “I will be available for questions, and I can review any document ... file[d] with the court. Essentially, I will be a resource...” At the Legal Clinic, we are grieved when we have to turn a client away due to a lack of resources. Please help us help those with unmet bankruptcy needs by registering for and attending this training.
